What Billboard stores, how your content and payments are kept secure, and the fact that your screens don't collect data about the people who see them.

Last updated 26 July 2026

Billboard runs in schools, universities and offices, so it's built to be straightforward about what it stores and how it's kept safe. This is the plain-language version. The full detail is in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

What Billboard stores

Mostly two things. Your account details (your name, organisation and email) and the media you upload to your galleries. That's all it takes to run your screens.

If you switch on the weather widget, we also store the place you picked, its name and its coordinates, so your screens can show the right forecast. You choose it by searching for a place name, or by letting your browser share your location once. You can change or clear it any time in Settings, then Apps.

Your screens don't watch anyone

Billboard shows your content. That's it. No cameras, no sensors, no face detection, and it collects nothing about the people who walk past your displays. A screen only ever plays your gallery.

The Apple TV app never asks for your location, either. Weather is fetched by our web service and sent to the TV as finished text, so the app has no location access at all.

How content is delivered

Your images and video are served to your Apple TVs over encrypted HTTPS, and each screen only reaches its own gallery through a secret code. Media is hosted with reputable cloud providers.

Payments

Card payments are handled entirely by our payment processor. Your card details go straight to them and never reach Billboard's servers, so we never see or store your card number. See Change, upgrade or cancel your plan.

Signing in

You can sign in with an email and a strong password, or with Google or Microsoft single sign-on. Manage your password and connected accounts under Settings → Security. See Signing in and your account.

Cookies and analytics

The dashboard uses only the cookies needed to keep you signed in, plus privacy-respecting analytics that run only if you accept them. You're asked on your first visit and can change your mind any time. Your Apple TV screens don't run this analytics at all.

Your data is yours

You can export your media at any time (it's just your original files), and you can delete your account and everything in it whenever you like. See Delete your account and data.
